Working with Joints in ANSYS Mechanical - ANSYS e-Learning

Joints provide a convenient way to allow for specific types of motion between two entities in ANSYS Mechanical. The Workbench Mechanical interface has many features which greatly simplify the creation and definition of a joint. Joints can be used in both flexible and rigid body problems.

This ANSYS e-Learning session demonstrates some of the tools and capabilities in ANSYS Workbench v14.5 for defining and working with joints.

Topics Covered:

  • Types of joints available
  • Joint creation: Automatic/Manual
  • Joint configuration
  • Joint options: Stops, Locks, Stiffness and Damping
  • Detecting over/under constraints
  • Postprocessing joints using the Probe tool
