Building Flow Domains with SpaceClaim Direct Modeler - ANSYS e-Learning

The first step in any CFD analysis is to identify and extract the flow domain to be considered. This process typically begins with a CAD file that defines the solid geometry which fluid flows through or around. Extracting a flow domain that is analysis-ready can be a difficult task with traditional CAD programs, as CAD files are often full of unnecessary detail and complicated topology.

ANSYS SpaceClaim Direct Modeler (SCDM) allows you to directly interact with your working geometry to simplify the topology and extract a flow domain without making changes to the original CAD file. ANSYS SCDM's powerful analysis-specific geometry tools help you quickly prepare your model for meshing and simulation.
