One of the most powerful features of ANSYS Workbench is that it enables the engineer to create finite element models parametrically. Parametric models can be defined for a single design and then used to generate multiple variations in an automated and efficient fashion. Parametric input quantities can include geometry parameters, material coefficients, mesh controls, contact settings and load magnitudes. Parametric output quantities can include mass and finite element results.
Parametric models require more up front planning, but the added preparation time is significantly less that the time saved over the scope of the analysis One of the main obstacles to setting up parametric models in ANSYS is getting CAD geometry with parameters that are useful to the analysis.
