CAE Associates Hosts Fatigue & Fracture Seminar in Tarrytown, NY

October 4, 2011

On September 29th, CAE Associates hosted a one-day seminar which presented an overview of the current methods of finite element-based fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis, and how to implement them effectively.   The seminar, attended by more than 75 engineers, was held at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.

Our keynote speaker, Thomas Meyer, the former leader of the United Technologies Research Center’s Structural Integrity Initiative, introduced the concepts of fracture and fatigue, along with the different methodologies for analysis. The CAE Associates technical staff demonstrated the practical use of the ANSYS® and nCode® software tools for predicting fatigue life as part of a durability program.

Presentation topics included the fundamental methods of Stress-Life, Strain-Life, and Crack-Propagation, along with more advanced subjects such as Cohesive Zone Modeling and Virtual Crack Closure Technology.

Presentations from this event are now available for download in our Resource Library.  For more information, please contact Christina Capasso at 203-758-2914 or at capasso@caeai.com.
