ANSYS Customization & Programming (ACT)

Prerequisites

Proficiency with ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL) and Python Programming Language.

Description

This course provides an introduction to the Application Customization Toolkit (ACT) in ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench). ACT currently enables the customization of ANSYS Mechanical in ways that allow you to capture know-how, expertise, process, and integrate legacy tools and external solvers.  As a result you are able to take advantage of:

  • A unified and consistent workflow
  • A consolidated user environment that facilitates ease of use

ACT is an add-on module to the Workbench Environment based on Python and XML Programming is interactive and interpretive. Like APDL (in ANSYS Mechanical APDL), ACT provides the ability  (in Workbench Mechanical) to:

  • Get, modify, and put data
  • Add new capabilities
  • Encapsulate process flow
  • Automate repetitive tasks
  • Integrate with external processes and codes

This course will cover:

  • ACT Basics
  • Introduction to XML and Python programming
  • Introduction to IronPython Console extension
  • Introduction to Advanced Topics

Course Workshops will address the creation of a custom load example and the creation of a custom result extension using both APDL and Python APIs.

Students are encouraged to bring an example of their own problem to solve.

General Information

Seminars begin promptly at 9 a.m. and finish at approximately 5 p.m. each day. Please arrive by 8:45 a.m. The seminar fee includes: course manuals, full color workshop manuals, & instruction.
