ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench) - Structural Nonlinearities
Course ID: CAE-WBSNL
Level: Advanced
Registration: $ 600.00
PrerequisitesIntroduction to ANSYS Mechanical (Workbench)
Description
ANSYS Workbench Simulation - Structural Nonlinearities offers an introduction to the structural nonlinear capabilities available in the Workbench environment. Modeling nonlinearities in a finite element analysis represents a challenge, since the governing equations of finite element are linear and the solution of nonlinear analyses requires an iterative solution approach that is not guaranteed to converge. This advanced class will introduce the three sources of structural nonlinearities: (1) geometric nonlinearities due to large rotations, large strain and stress stiffening, (2) material nonlinearities found in plasticity and (3) modeling contact. This advanced class will address how to include these effects in a structural finite element analysis, describe the various settings required to obtain a converged solution, and discuss how to interpret and evaluate the results.
Learning Objectives
- Successful completion of the course will provide students with the ability to use Simulation to perform nonlinear structural finite element analyses, including valuable information to help obtain converged solutions.
- Students will learn the sources of structural nonlinearities and how to identify them in real-world problems.
Immediate Benefits
- The student will be able to immediately incorporate the effect of nonlinearities into structural finite element analyses using the Simulation software upon completion of the class.
- The student will gain practical knowledge in understanding what are the sources of nonlinearities, how to identify them in real-world problems, and how to obtain converged solutions.
